Foster Carer Role summary •Foster parents work in partnership with the NFA and Local Authorities to provide a safe, secure and nurturing foster family environment. •Foster Carers are required to look after children ages 0-18 As a foster carer you may be single or married, living with a partner or divorced and come from any ethnic cultural or religious background What ‘s required to be a foster carer ? • The time and energy to invest in a child or young person. • A spare bedroom for the fostered child. • Be available to look after a foster child. • Experience of looking after children. • Be able to work in partnership with the NFA Scotland as part of a team. • Be able to provide a caring and nurturing environment. What We Offer • A fostering allowance of £368 per week for each child in placement. • Support from a qualified Social worker (24 hours a day) • Full NFA support and advice to guide you through the application and fostering process in becoming a foster carer • A comprehensive training and development programme including skills to foster, regular training and e-learning opportunities. • Local information sessions with other foster carers at support groups. • A dedicated duty service to match child’s needs with your skills and experience.
