Initially on our team of Bank Workers, but may lead to a fixed term contract c.£8 per hour If you are good with people, patient and flexible, you could use your skills as part of the Specialist Support Assistant team at QEF Independent Living Services based in Dorincourt near Leatherhead. Dorincourt is a centre where young people with complex and multiple disabilities are supported to develop the required skills to allow them to move on to a lifestyle and location of their choice. Some clients warrant specialist intervention and we are seeking Specialist Support Assistants to enable them to participate in the programme of activities organised at Dorincourt. Specialist Support Assistants will work with individual clients who have behavioural or neurological conditions, for example autism or Tourettes Syndrome, to facilitate their participation in a range of activities such as cooking, shopping, time-tabled and leisure activities, such as art, music and sport. This rewarding position will provide the opportunity to collaborate with other Support staff to capitalise on our clients’ existing skills and strengths and help them learn new ones as part of a wider development programme. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a high level of patience and the ability to provide personal support, such as assisting at meal times. Comfortable working on your own initiative and as a team member you will be flexible to work shifts and weekends. Experience of working with people with autism, an understanding of Psychological conditions (may suit a Psychology Graduate) and the ability to drive would be desirable.
